Important Context - Whoâs Speaking At the 2024 Brownstone Institute Conference? This yearâs fringe fest shows the extent of the anti-science groupâs influence. Walker Bragman, Allison Neitzel, and Natalie Jonas Oct 28, 2024 The panel lineup of the 2024 Pittsburgh conference not only illustrates how wide Brownstoneâs influence web has become, but how unifyingâand animatingâpublic health denialism is to the global right today. Represented by the speakers are different countries, various universities and other institutions, including not a small number of dark money groups. The vast majority of the panelists are public health contrarians who have expressed skepticism of the COVID vaccines and espoused anti-trans sentiments. Day 1 Keynote. The festivities will begin with a keynote speech delivered by Tucker himself. Tucker has worn many hats throughout his careerâBitcoin advocate; managing partner at a crypto investment fund; neo-Confederate; right-wing political operative. He has a reputation for his extreme free market beliefs, which include support for child labor and youth tobacco use, and opposition to anti-discrimination laws. Conversely, Tucker lives in the rigid world of Traditionalist Catholicism and has written for various publications with a focus on liturgical music.
Not surprisingly thereâs some overlap with the Rescue the Republic event in DC in September 2024, including Robert Malone and Bret Weinstein. 3 people from the Ron DeSantis public health committee led by the anti-vax Florida Surgeon General Joe Ladapo who on the podcast of Steve Bannon, said vaccines are âthe Antichrist of all productsâ. Some guy from Belgium whoâs been on Alex Jonesâ show. The anti-vax Canadian pediatrician who sued her critics and lost, and then Elon Musk said heâd pay her legal bills. The anti-vax anti-abortion candidate that lost to VP candidate Governor Tim Walz in 2022. A colleague of Pierre Kory and Jordan Vaughn at the FLCCC. An Australian libertarian psychotherapist. Moms for Liberty co-founder Tiffany Justice who recently appeared at the October 2024 Madison Square Garden MAGA fascist rally. Father John Naugle of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh who has publicly hurled anti-trans insults at former PA Health Secretary and now the U.S Health Dept. Assistant Secretary, Rachel Levine. One of the infamous punitive dubious media doctor pundits launched by Oprah Winfrey - the one who didnât run against John Fetterman and also not the one who appeared at the Madison Square Garden Trump rally, itâs the other one. And, of course, at least one of the authors of the Great Barrington Declaration is on the roster.

Government Executive - USPS is delivering ballots quickly and on time - The Postal Service says a few local issues have come up but they have rapidly been addressed. October 23, 2024 Eric Katz The U.S. Postal Service is overwhelmingly delivering ballots at a rapid pace, ensuring the election mail gets to voters and back to local officials more efficiently than its normal deliveries. The agency was seeing success even before it began taking its special election season steps to expedite election mail processing.
A vote for Donald Trump is a vote for school shootings and measles An endorsement of democracy, solving problems, and Kamala Harris. By Nilay Patel editor-in-chief of The Verge Oct 29, 2024 Do you want to live in a country where the vice president refers to schools as âsoft targetsâ? Thatâs a vote for JD Vance. Thatâs a vote for Donald Trump â a vote for the line on the school shootings chart to keep going up, forever. Itâs the same with vaccines, which are a near-perfect collective action problem â they are generally only effective if almost everyone in a community gets them, which means either everyone has to agree to get them or the government has to mandate compliance. When everyone cooperates and gets vaccinated, our vaccines can be highly effective: the measles were effectively eradicated in this country nearly a quarter-century ago. Then presumptive Trump health secretary RFK Jr. hit the scene to spew his dangerous anti-vax bullshit, convinced enough people to stop getting vaccinated, and the fucking measles came back.
STAT - Trumpâs talk of âbad genesâ is rooted in eugenics. Experts explain why itâs making a comeback - By Anil Oza Oct. 28, 2024 While racists harbor hatred for others because of their ethnicity or the color of their skin, eugenicists take it a step further and âlike to legislate people out of existence,â OâBrien said. âThey are OK with sterilization. Theyâre okay with extermination, and they believe that certain groups are superior and itâs OK to enact things that make it difficult for other ones to exist. I find that far scarier than racism.â Asked about Trumpâs rhetoric and the eugenics movement and his remarks about âbad genes,â Karoline Leavitt, the campaignâs press secretary, told STAT, âPresident Trump was clearly referring to murderers, not migrants.ââ The former president also has a history of statements suggesting that certain people are genetically superior. A 2016 documentary pointed out Trumpâs father, Fred, introduced him to âracehorse theoryâ as a child â the idea that âthat if you put together the genes of a superior woman and a superior man, you get superior offspring.â Heâs used this idea to promote his own intelligence as well.
Strawman tactic campaign ads.
404 Media is reporting that the Elon Musk super pac has set up more strawman ads pretending to be Democrats or Harris, targeting Republicans saying mandatory gun buyback, giving medicare to undocumented immigrants, and banning cigarettes. The telecoms are not required to have a database of election ads, so when it comes to text ads, itâs all found out by people sending in examples to reporters. So itâs difficult to know for sure what people are seeing in texts, and what kind of misinformation theyâre getting.
I've seen this strawmanning tactic used on social media for years. People set up a social media account, make it like a caricature of a person who supports a particular issue or political stance, and they may promote genuine ideas, but then they start slipping in really outlandish things. An example I've seen on the pandemic issue is sock puppet troll accounts that promote masks, and then also post about locking people in their homes, preventing people from working in essential jobs, shutting down businesses, or forcing people to wear masks in the shower. Things that are obviously just things right-wingers claim are wanted, as a strawman to discredit any public health measures as supposedly "extreme".
Sadly this is a disinformation operation that fools some people.
Trump rally streams still pushing ivermectin.
Trump adminâs grotesque folly set an extremely low bar for looking good on the pandemic.
Ex-Trump Aide on disaster response: âItâs going to be gravely worse if he returns to officeâ - MSNBC - Oct 13, 2024Â Olivia Troye: âWhen we're talking about the disaster relief, and you're hearing Kevin [Carroll] talk about the situation that we all faced here. I think it was so chaotic and disruptive on a daily basis that it would be hard for me to sit here and think of examples, because I'm just like well I don't know, which one should I do? Should I do immigration right now? Should I talk about what happened with the child separation and how that really played out. Should I talk about red and blue states during covid and how really they weren't getting the supplies. Should I talk about Dr. Fauci sitting in the middle of the sit-room very angrily saying âI'm talking to doctors in the ERs in new york city, they are telling me they're not getting the suppliesâ, and leaving the room and Jared Kushner saying, âOh you know, F them, it's Cuomo.â I mean literally, these are real things that happened every single day.
Because of the Trump administrationâs pandemic mismanagement based on political vendettas and shady deals, many got away with mistakes, missteps, and gross mismanagement on both sides of the aisle. More Trump will make more of the worst Democrats look not so bad because the comparison is a low set bar.
Trump sending tests to Putin â part of a larger cynical pandemic narrative.
So many of these journalists and reporters knew all sorts of things but you donât find out until they release the âbombshellâ books.Â
Why It Matters - Trumpâs Personal Delivery to Putin More Revelations from Woodwardâs Recent Book Alexander Vindman Oct 10, 2024 Judging from the details provided by Woodward, Putin clearly understood how to play to Trumpâs insecurities and how bad the situation would appear to the public. According to an excerpt released by NPR, Putin told Trump âI donât want you to tell anybody because people will get mad at you, not me. They don't care about meâ. During a period of acute shortage of COVID-19 tests, Trump went out of his way to secure a âpersonal shipmentâ of tests to Vladimir Putin at the cost of the health of many Americans.
People mostly have been kept in the dark about the true extent of the egregious and outrageous actions of Trump with regard to the pandemic. In some cases the issues have been memory holed because of censorship with noise. The Biden administrationâs failure to implement excellent pandemic measures Biden campaigned on in 2020, and the failure to keep covid vaccines free, has not helped either.
Of course people writing for The New York Times knew that Putin was cautious about covid all along. I remember that ridiculous headline for the bonkers op-ed where Vladimir Putinâs desire to avoid disease was being floated as the reason Putin invaded Ukraine. One wonders how much many people knew back then and when they actually knew it. Vladimir Putin did not invade Ukraine because he was cautious about covid, for pityâs sake, there was no covid in 2014 and history didn't begin in 2020..
But Putinâs desire to avoid covid, as a senior citizen and cancer patient, as somehow related to his dangerousness, was the first I remember of such correlations in the media narratives that suggested being a disabled person avoiding covid makes you associated with bad. People still make fun of Putin for avoiding covid today â I heard someone giggle about the long table this month on a podcast. These ableist orientations pressured into the zeitgeist, largely by business interests, have continued to undermine the ability of people to protect themselves. Some disinformation narratives suggest that the high risk disabled and elderly are holding up herd immunity, or even maybe dangerous criminals using masks as a âdisguiseâ. There have been periodic weird suggestions being pushed that immunocompromised and disabled children or children who get sick with covid or long covid will become violent because of not being at in-person school â even though thereâs no evidence that illness, childhood cancer treatments, accidents, disabilities, remote schooling, or homeschooling, have ever made children violent. This disability discrimination seems to have been boosted by Paul Elias Alexander publishing with the right-wing Brownstone Institute suggesting thereâs some link between absence from in-person school, wearing masks, and violent youths. This is not a real thing.Â
In 2020 Donald Trump, as President of the United States, betrayed the people, and with far more than just debacles around covid tests. Itâs not about whether Vladimir Putin âdeservedâ covid tests, everyone needed tests and nobody deserves disease. The problem is that elites panic and take care of their own, often while suggesting eugenics pseudoscience be practiced on others. So often it's âsafety for me but not for theeâ for people in positions of power, and then they claim they survived because it was natural and just.
Trump said he wants to let RFK Jr. âgo wild onâ health, food, and âthe medicinesâ.Â
Aaron Rupar âȘ@atrupar.bsky.social⏠October 27, 2024 at 8:11 PM on Bluesky  Trump on RFK Jr: "I'm gonna let him go wild on health. I'm gonna let him go wild on the foods. I'm gonna let him go wild on the medicines."
RFK Jr. is an anti-vaxxer who promoted an anti-vaxxer in Samoa, which led to a deadly measles outbreak. RFK Jr is on the same page with Alex âturning the frogs gayâ Jones, and Fauci described RFK Jr. as blaming vaccines for âevery disease in the worldâ â RFK Jr. said he thinks Fauci ought to be in jail.
JD Vance lays out the Trump anti-vax plan to Joe Rogan.
On the Joe Rogan Show, JD Vance essentially laid out their plans for a defacto ban on vaccines (of all kinds likely) by making drug companies liable for everyone who claims the âvaccine injuryâ â which by their standards is anyone who had minor side-effects, such as feeling under the weather for a couple of days. By taking away liability programs and making the drug companies pay out or litigate everyone who claims side-effects, it will essentially make it untenable financially for drug companies to make vaccines any longer, thereby no company will dare bother producing or selling vaccines in the U.S. or probably to Americans anywhere, out of vaccine liability fears.
Thereâs a perfectly good program for vaccine adverse events which has a lower bar than the normal courts, and has functioned well for a long time. And even Republicans in Congress have suggested moving covid vaccines to that program. But it seems like MAGA doesnât want that now that RFK Jr. is on board. They want to do away with vaccines now. Or perhaps worse â since there are plans to deputize anti-vaxxers for swatting squads.
JD Vance ironically didnât see the value in being âvaccine injuredâ with a couple days of side-effects because his subsequent 5 infections with covid were âmildâ according to him. He apparently has no concept that the reason heâs survived so many covid infections may in fact be because of previous vaccination.

âThe liberals were outraged at Trump. But they expressed their outrage in cyberspace so it had no effect. Because the algorithms made sure that they only spoke to people who already agreed with them. Instead ironically their waves of angry messages and tweets benefitted the large corporations who ran the social media platforms. one online analyst put it simply â angry people click. It meant that the radical fury that came like waves across the internet no longer had the power to change the world. Instead it became a fuel that fed the systems of power making them ever more powerful.â
