🧪 We need tests - "Bro have you heard of this thing called the Defense Production Act?" ✍️
Send the message to President Joe Biden to keep pandemic testing capabilities up and running.
Below is a letter I sent to President Joe Biden in response to the report by Andy Slavitt’s dire warning that US manufacturing of testing is shutting down because of failure to budget for it by the other branches of government. In response, Justin Feldman pointed out that the Defense Production Act is an option.
Please join me in calling for the Defense Production Act to make sure crucial needed tests are being manufactured. Send the letter with the action network form or write yourself via the White House contact form.

Dear President Biden,
I have heard the dire call that US manufacturing of testing is shutting down and we will be left with a shortage of crucial tests right at a time we may need them the most. Please use the Defense Production Act to stave off this impending disaster response failure.

What Is the Defense Production Act (DPA)?
The Defense Production Act (DPA) is a law that gives the U.S. president the power to order companies to produce goods and supply services to support national defense. Originally passed in 1950, the law was first used during the Korean War.1 The law has been adapted over the past seven decades to respond to challenges beyond war preparations, having been enlisted to help the country recover from natural disasters, energy security, public health, and to protect against terrorism.
