If it’s UV, it’s likely capable of harming human cells - there’s no long-term evidence otherwise. And exposing people to risks repeatedly while insisting it's mild sounds awfully familiar.
Thanks for some science-based, non-commercial comments! I totally agree, as someone with vision issues who really, really needs to avoid unnecessary UV lights as a result. I'd be happy to have them INSIDE vents, but NOT shining down on humans!
I once considered a UV light for inside my furnace (so definitely not exposing us directly), but it purposely put hydrogen peroxide in the air, and also couldn't guarantee not to put O3 in the air. I could not find any research into the safety of such a thing, and was thoroughly worried that this was a thing people could just buy.
